Nagorik Uddyog is currently involved in advocating the issues related to our program at both local and national levels.

At the local level we are focusing on the issues, implementation of existing laws and protection mechanism to improve the women rights, greater use of government legal aid support, access to basic service provision of poor people, effective participation of women elected representatives at the union council, activating arbitration council of local government and strengthening standing committees of local government.

At the national level, NU is active along with other civil society groups to restore the 1997 National Women Development Policy instead of new 2004 National Women Development Policy, which largely denies women empowerment in terms of property rights, political participation and mainstreaming of gender. Furthermore NU has been launching programs to formulate a national level pro-urban poor policy and has facilitated and currently working for the formulation of a right to information policy.
